Bing & Grøndahl jumping lackey figurine no. 8029 overglaze

This porcelain figurine from Bing & Grøndahl captures a lively and theatrical moment: a jumping lackey in the process of vaulting a pole with his legs flung out to each side. The motif has both movement, humor and character, and the figurine stands out with its narrative posture, which gives it an almost scenic expression. It is precisely this kind of human figure that adds personality to a collection and arouses curiosity when it is given a place in the home.

The lackey is executed in light, refined colors with a blue costume, white stockings, black shoes and fine details in, among other things, yellow, green and gray. The decorative base with gilded edge emphasizes the figurine's classic expression, while the overglaze decoration gives the colors depth and a lively interplay. Together with the upright pole and the forward-leaning posture, a motif is created with a clear sense of speed, balance and performance.

The figurine is designed by Jens Jakob Bregnø and belongs to the tradition of Danish porcelain art in which storytelling, craftsmanship and modeling merge into a higher unity. As a vintage porcelain figurine, it also has the special charm that comes with older decorative art and collector's items created to last through generations. Choosing a figurine with history is at the same time a beautiful way to bring existing quality design further into a modern home.

A Bing & Grøndahl figurine like this fits beautifully in a display cabinet, on a console table or as part of a collection of porcelain figurines and other classic human figures. It is also ideal as a gift for collectors or for someone who appreciates Danish porcelain with character and storytelling.
