Søholm Great Statesmen Anwar Sadat money box no. 5, 1983

Søholm Great Statesmen Anwar Sadat money box no. 5 from 1983 is a characterful ceramic figure that combines portrait art and function in one cohesive design. The figure is shaped as a bust with a coin slot in the back of the head, so it functions both as a money box and as a decorative collector's figure. On the base is the inscription "Anwar Sadat 1918 - 1981", which clearly links the motif to the historical person the figure represents.

The expression is calm and thoughtful, with finely modelled facial features, a pronounced moustache and a simple torso with shirt and tie. The matte, light ceramic emphasizes the sculptural character of the bust and gives the figure a subdued, almost monumental expression. This makes this Søholm money box suitable both as a collector's item and as a distinctive feature in the home interior, where it adds personality, history and a touch of contemporary political history.

The Great Statesmen series has a special appeal for collectors of Søholm ceramics, figurative art and historical money boxes. Here you get not merely a practical money box, but also a figure with a clear identity and story. Older ceramics with character like this are also a good example of how design and decorative arts can live on in modern homes. That is precisely part of the charm of vintage and older collector's items: that they can still be used, displayed and appreciated many years after they were created.

This Anwar Sadat money box fits well in a collection with figures, ceramics and political or historical motifs, but can also stand alone on a shelf, in an office or in a living room, where it sparks curiosity and conversation. An obvious gift idea for collectors of Søholm, ceramic figures and unusual money boxes with history.
