Søholm money box Hilmer Baunsgaard - Money Box of the Year

This Søholm money box featuring Hilmer Baunsgaard combines Danish design, politics and collector interest in one distinctive ceramic figure. The figure is designed as a characterful bust, where the sharply modelled facial features, the forehead wrinkles and the calm expression give the piggy bank a vivid and personal touch. It is a piggy bank that functions both as a practical item and as a piece of Danish cultural history.

The money box belongs to the series "Money Box of the Year" from Keramikfabriken Søholm and is also referred to as a Bikuben piggy bank. The motif is Hilmer Baunsgaard, who was born in Slagelse on 26 February 1920. He was a member of the Folketing from 1957 to 1977, Minister of Trade in the Kampmann ministry in 1961, Minister of Trade in the Krag ministry from 1962 to 1964 and Danish Prime Minister from 1968 to 1971. It is precisely this historical grounding that makes this Søholm figure interesting for collectors of money boxes, political memorabilia and Danish ceramics.

As a collector's item, this piggy bank stands out by combining portrait figure and function. It fits well into a collection of Danish money boxes, but can also stand alone on the shelf, in the office or in a home where Danish design with a story is appreciated. It is ideal for those interested in Danish statesmen, Søholm ceramics or figures with a clear identity and history.

Older ceramic figures and piggy banks like this have a special ability to give the interior personality. When you choose an original collector's item with history, you get not just a decorative figure, but also a piece of Danish design created to last and to continue to arouse interest many years after its time.
