Bear ceramic figurine 9 cm by Knud Basse

This bear ceramic figurine by Knud Basse has a calm and present expression that makes it easy to notice in the decor. The figurine depicts a sitting bear cub with a slightly bowed head, defined paws and a fine, attentive gaze. The warm brownish glaze emphasizes the figurine's soft shapes and gives it a natural, earthy character that fits beautifully among both ceramics, porcelain and other smaller art objects.

Knud Basse is known for his animal figurines, and here his sure sense of character comes clearly to the fore. The bear is modelled simply, but with enough detail to give the figurine personality. Ears, eyes and paws are highlighted, and that makes the figurine seem alive without becoming overworked. It is precisely that balance many collectors and design enthusiasts seek in older Danish ceramics: a figurine with form, warmth and a distinct artistic expression.

As a small ceramic figurine, it is ideal on a shelf, in a bookcase, on a desk or as part of a collection of animal figurines. It can stand alone as a discreet eye-catcher or be combined with other ceramic figurines to create a personal arrangement with Nordic charm. For you, who appreciate Danish design with history, this bear figurine is also a fine example of how older decorative art and craftsmanship can still create atmosphere in a modern home. Choosing a figurine with age and soul is at the same time a beautiful way to give good craftsmanship new life.
