Royal Copenhagen Pike figurine no. 2427 by Platen-Hallermundt

Royal Copenhagen pike figurine no. 2427 is a porcelain figurine with a calm and lifelike expression, where the fish's long, slender form is rendered with great assurance. The low, gliding silhouette and the slightly curved body give the figurine a fine sense of movement, as if the pike is just cutting through the water. The glaze is kept in muted blue-grey and white shades, and the discreet markings along the side emphasize the motif's lively character.

The figurine is designed by Francis Valdemar Platen-Hallermundt, who is known for his animal figurines for Royal Copenhagen. Here, his assured eye for the animal's anatomy clearly emerges in the pointed snout, the defined fins, and the simple, precise modeling. It is precisely that combination of naturalism and stylish porcelain art that makes this fish figurine attractive to both collectors of Royal Copenhagen and to those who want a decorative feature with a maritime or Nordic touch.

A Royal Copenhagen fish figurine like this fits beautifully in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or as part of a still life arrangement with other Danish porcelain and decorative arts. It can also be an obvious gift idea for collectors, anglers, or anyone who is fond of classic animal figurines in porcelain. The pike has a subdued and timeless expression, which makes it easy to place in both modern and more traditional homes.
