Royal Copenhagen Man with boy figurine no. 4125 overglaze

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 4125 depicts a man and a boy in a calm, narrative moment, where they stand close together around a white paper boat. The motif has a fine everyday atmosphere and contains the warm connection between child and adult that makes classic porcelain figurines so relevant in the decor. The figurine is modeled with clear attention to posture and relationship, so the motif comes to life from all angles.

Bode Willumsen has given this porcelain figurine a characterful design with many small details. The man is seen with a beard, cap, vest, suspenders, light clothing and black boots, while the boy stands in front of him with a green jacket, light hat and likewise black boots. The white paper boat brings the motif together and adds a playful and narrative character to the figurine. The green decoration on the base beautifully ties the whole together and emphasizes the figurine's decorative expression.

As an overglaze figurine, it has a soft and lively color effect that suits the motif well. It is precisely this type of older porcelain figurine that adds personality and history to the home. A figurine like this fits nicely in a collection of Royal Copenhagen figurines, but can also stand alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet or on a small table, where its story is allowed to come forward.

For collectors, figurine no. 4125 is interesting both because of the motif, the designer Bode Willumsen and the connection to Royal Copenhagen. At the same time, it is a beautiful example of how older porcelain can still create joy in a modern home. Choosing a figurine with history is also a way to give classic Danish design new life and let good craftsmanship live on through generations.
