Royal Copenhagen guinea pig figurine no. 4652 - John Galster

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 4652 depicts a guinea pig rendered with a calm and present character, which makes the figurine lively to look at. The compact body shape, the small paws and the attentive gaze give the motif a fine weight and a natural expression, while the soft grey and white shades emphasize the figurine's calm appearance. It is a porcelain figurine that appeals both to collectors of Royal Copenhagen and to those who are fond of animal figurines with classic Danish design language.

The figurine is designed by John Galster, who is known for his lifelike animal depictions, and here this is clearly seen in the simple, rounded modelling. The underglaze gives the surface depth and a beautiful sheen, which suits the motif and highlights the fine transitions in the decoration. The guinea pig appears at once stylish and charming, which makes the figurine easy to place in the home.

A Royal Copenhagen animal figurine like this fits beautifully in a bookcase, a display cabinet or on a shelf, where it can stand alone or be included together with other porcelain figurines and collectibles. It is also an obvious gift idea for anyone who collects Royal Copenhagen figurines, loves small pets or appreciates Danish design with history. Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add personality to the home, and at the same time they are a beautiful choice for those who would like to give fine craftsmanship new life.

With its classic motif and its well-known figurine number, this is a piece of Danish porcelain art that has both decorative value and collector interest. It is precisely the type of figurine one returns to, because it contains both warmth, craftsmanship and a motif that is easy to become fond of.
