Royal Copenhagen pig figurine 691 piglet pair by Erik Nielsen

Royal Copenhagen figurine 691 is a charming pig figurine, where two piglets are modelled close together in a calm and lively composition. The soft shaping and the smooth, light glaze give the figurine a fine interplay between naturalism and classic Danish porcelain design. Here, it is not grand effects that carry the expression, but the simple story of closeness, play, and security.

Erik Nielsen has created a porcelain figurine with warmth and movement, even though the motif is gathered in a low and compact form. The small curly tails, the soft bodies, and the lightly defined snouts give the figurine character, while the discreet greyish nuances emphasize the modelling. It is a Royal Copenhagen animal figurine that fits beautifully into both classic collections and modern interiors.

This pig figurine is an obvious choice for the collector of Royal Copenhagen figurines, but also for those who are fond of animal figurines with personality and history. Older porcelain figurines like this one have a special ability to add soul to the home, and they are at the same time a sustainable choice, because fine craftsmanship is allowed to live on and create joy in new surroundings. The figurine is decorative on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as a small narrative detail on a desk or side table.

The motif with piglets also makes it a fine gift idea for collectors, those interested in country life, or anyone who appreciates Danish design with humor and warmth. The low, rounded form means that the figurine looks good both alone and together with other porcelain animals.
