Dachshund figurine no. 1603 Bing & Grøndahl porcelain

Bing & Grøndahl dachshund figurine no. 1603 is a porcelain figurine with lots of character and movement. The dog is modelled standing on its hind legs with raised front paws and its head stretched upward, as if it is begging or expectantly seeking contact. The lively posture gives the figurine an expression that immediately draws attention and makes it an atmospheric feature in the interior.

The light, warm glaze emphasizes the figurine's soft shapes and highlights the body's long lines, drooping ears, and the slightly curved tail. It is precisely the combination of the naturalistic dog motif and the simple, assured modelling that makes this Bing & Grøndahl dog figurine a classic example of Danish porcelain art, where form and personality go hand in hand.

According to the available information, the figurine was designed by Dahl Jensen and executed in porcelain with underglaze. This gives it a calm, harmonious surface and an expression that fits beautifully both in a classic collection and in a more contemporary home. The figurine can stand alone on a shelf, on a desk, or in a display cabinet, but it is also ideal to combine with other animal figurines in porcelain to create a personal and lively arrangement.

For collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines and for dog lovers, this dachshund has a special appeal. It unites Danish design tradition, fine craftsmanship, and a motif with warmth and humor. At the same time, older porcelain figurines like this are a beautiful way to pass on quality items with history, so they can continue to bring joy in new surroundings.
