Royal Copenhagen dachshund figurine no. 1408 or 103 by Olaf Mathiesen

This Royal Copenhagen dachshund figurine by Olaf Mathiesen has an expression that immediately catches the eye. The dog lies on its back with its paws in the air, its head slightly turned and the long ears softly folded down along the side. The motif is lively and full of personality, and the relaxed, playful posture gives the figurine warmth and charm in the interior.

The color scheme is calm and harmonious with a glossy glaze in muted brownish and grayish shades, which emphasize the figurine's soft shapes. It is precisely this simple, naturalistic modeling that is characteristic of a dog figurine that appeals both to collectors of Royal Copenhagen and to you who appreciate classic Danish porcelain with a figurative motif. As a porcelain figurine, it works well in the display cabinet, on the shelf or as a discreet detail on a desk, console or side table.

Olaf Mathiesen is known for his animal figurines, and here the character of the dachshund is captured with a sure hand. The small paws, the curved body and the upturned belly area give the figurine movement and presence, even though it lies still. This makes it an obvious choice for dog lovers, collectors of Royal Copenhagen figurines and anyone seeking a decorative dog figurine in porcelain with classic Danish design language.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add soul and history to the home. They are created to last, to be appreciated and to gain new life in modern surroundings. A figurine like this is also an obvious gift idea for the collector, the dachshund owner or the person who appreciates Danish design and applied art with lasting value.
