Bing & Grøndahl Shire stallion no. 2293 horse figurine 22 cm

The Shire stallion no. 2293 from Bing & Grøndahl is a classic horse figurine in porcelain with a calm and powerful expression. The figurine is modeled by Svend Jespersen, who is known for his naturalistic animal figurines, and here the breed's heaviness and strength are rendered with a sure sense of proportion and posture. It stands upright and balanced with a raised head, broad chest, and prominent legs, which gives the figurine a presence that makes it ideal as both a collector's item and a decorative feature in the home.

The colors support the motif's lifelike character. The horse appears in light brownish shades with darker areas at the mane, tail, and legs, and the light markings at the head and hooves create a fine contrast. The glossy glaze highlights the figurine's shapes and gives the surface life when the light hits the porcelain. The underglaze technique simultaneously contributes to the soft, harmonious play of colors that many collectors associate with classic Bing & Grøndahl figurines.

A horse figurine like this fits beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet collection, or as part of an interior with Danish design and older porcelain. For collectors of Bing & Grøndahl, horse figurines, or Svend Jespersen's works, model 2293 is a characterful figurine with both decorative value and historical interest. When choosing older porcelain with history, one simultaneously chooses a piece of craftsmanship that is created to last and to gain new life in a modern home.

The Shire stallion is also an obvious gift idea for horse enthusiasts or for the collector who appreciates porcelain figurines with personality, true-to-motif design, and strong Danish design tradition.
