1986 Holmegaard Ship's plate with motif of the Danish named "Jubelfesten". The motif of the plate was reconstructed by Per Bøgh together with museum conservator Christian Nielsen. The galliot Jubelfesten was a medium sized trading ship, 78.2 feet in length with three masts and a crew of 8-9 men. It was built in 1749 at the shipyard of Andreas Bjørn at Christianshavn. The first owner of the ship was C.K.G. Hansen, who ran an impressive import and export business in Faoeese salt fish. Jubelfesten remained in the possession of the family until 1797, when Jens Nielsen Mariager, the ship's master for many years, took it over and continued the trade in salt fish in the Faroes, Iceland and the Finmark. From 1804 Jubel- festen also sailed to Cette in the South of France and to Lisbon in Portugal. The ship survived the fatal year 1807, when the British fleet captured most of the Danish fleet. By 1818 the shipping trade of Europe was returning to normal after the Napoleonic wars, and Jubelfesten went into service again. We know that the ship went from St. Petersburg to the Mediterranean and that Jubelfesten continued plying that route until she was wrecked at St. Malo in France, in 1822. Jubelfesten was reconstucted in 1977 by Per Bøgh, the ship designer, in close co-operation with the then museum conserva- tor, Christian Nielsen, of the Trade and Maritime Museum at Kronborg.
