Achton Friis (1871-1939) was a Danish graphical artist, painter and writer. He is probably best known for participating in the tragic Denmark Expedition to map North Eastern Greenland. On this expedition he drew many portraits and landscapes in North Eastern Greenland. After the expedition he also issued a book about the Denmark Expedition in 1909.

In his work with plates Achton Friis has been attached to Bing & Grondahl, where he has made a series of Poet Plates and a large number of the beautiful Easter plates. Furthermore he has made the two beautiful reunification with Northern Schleswig plates.
Achton Friis has also issued the books "The Danish Isles" 1926-1928, "The Land of the Jutes" 1932-1933 and "The Large Islands of Denmark 1-2" 1936-1937.
He was educated at the Art Academy of Copenhagen 1895-1899 and has both made ceramics, porcelain and portrait drawings.
He has received the medal of merit in silver and lies buried at the western cemetary (Vestre Kirkegård) in Copenhagen.
