Bing & Grøndahl Spilled milk figurine no. 2246 or 466

Spilled milk is a classic Bing & Grøndahl figurine that captures a recognizable moment from childhood with both warmth and empathy. The standing girl with the small milk mug in her hand and the spilled milk at her feet tells a simple, human story that many will immediately be able to relate to. Her slightly bowed head and the hand by her eye give the figurine a touching and vivid expression.

The motif is finely observed and full of character. The girl stands in her blue dress, while the milk runs down along the fabric and further out onto the base. It is precisely this narrative detail that makes the porcelain figurine particularly atmospheric. The figurine combines everyday life, emotion, and craftsmanship in a way that has made classic child figurines from Bing & Grøndahl sought after among both collectors and those who appreciate Danish porcelain art.

The artist Claire Weiss is known for figurines with presence and sensitivity, and this is clearly felt here. The expression is soft and natural, and the underglaze technique gives the surface the calm depth and muted colors that suit the motif so well. It is a porcelain figurine that fits beautifully in a collection of B&G figurines, but that can also stand alone in the décor and add personality and history to the home.

Older porcelain figurines like this one have a special charm because they are created to last and to be appreciated through generations. Choosing original porcelain with a history is also a fine way to bring sustainability and quality into the home. Spilled milk is ideal as a gift for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl, for those who love child figurines, or as a poetic element in a classic home interior.
