Royal Copenhagen Millennium figure 2003 Emma by Sven Vestergaard

Royal Copenhagen Millennium figure 2003 Emma is a charming porcelain figure that captures a calm moment at the beach. Emma is sitting on the sand in a blue swimsuit with a turtle in her hands, while her teddy bear sits beside her. Around her are small beach details such as a shell, starfish and coral, and in front of her legs stands a blue swim fin. The motif has a narrative, summery atmosphere that makes the figure lively to look at from several angles.

The figure was created by Sven Vestergaard and belongs to the Millennium series, which is known for its child figures each with their own year and personality. For that very reason, Emma also appeals to collectors of Millennium figures from Royal Copenhagen, but it also works very well on its own as a decorative porcelain figure with a maritime motif. The combination of the child, the beach, the turtle and the teddy bear gives the figure a warm and recognizable expression that fits nicely into both classic and more personal interiors.

The underglaze decoration supports the figure's soft color scheme and the fine details in the motif. The light shades, the blue tones and the small beach finds give the figure depth without appearing restless. It is a porcelain figure that one naturally feels like displaying on a shelf, on a chest of drawers or in a display cabinet, where the details can be enjoyed up close.

For collectors, Emma from 2003 is an obvious figure for supplementing or expanding an existing collection of Millennium figures. For others, it is an atmospheric choice as a gift for someone who loves Royal Copenhagen, Danish figurative art or porcelain with motifs from childhood and summer life. Older quality figures like this carry history and personality with them and are at the same time a beautiful example of how good craftsmanship can continue to create joy in the home.
