Royal Copenhagen Santa of the Year 2012 - Santa with dog

Royal Copenhagen Santa of the Year 2012 is a charming Christmas figurine with lots of storytelling gathered in one motif. Here we see Santa in the classic red suit, sitting with his index finger raised, while a small dog plays by his striped sock. Next to him sits a teddy bear, and the whole figurine has the warm, narrative expression that has made the series so sought-after among collectors of Danish Christmas figurines and porcelain figurines.

The figurine is designed by Sven Vestergaard and made in porcelain with underglaze for Royal Copenhagen. The motif combines humor and Christmas atmosphere in a lovely way: Santa appears both calm and occupied, as if in the midst of the December busyness there is also room for play and small moments. The red, white, green and brown colors give the figurine a classic Christmas expression that fits beautifully into traditional Christmas decorations, but also works wonderfully on its own as a decorative Christmas figurine.

The Santa of the Year series started in 2001, and since then a new Santa has been produced every year. From 2021 onward, a Mrs. Santa has also been added to the collection. That is precisely why the figurines have become very popular, and there is great demand for these Royal Copenhagen Christmas figurines. For collectors, the 2012 edition may be the missing figurine in the series or an obvious supplement to an existing collection, while for others it is an atmospheric standalone collector's item with strong Christmas character.

Older Christmas figurines like this have a special ability to bring history and personality into the home year after year. It is also a cozy way to choose quality design with a long lifespan rather than new production. The figurine can stand on the windowsill, on a shelf, in a Christmas display or as part of a larger collection of Royal Copenhagen Santa of the Year.
