Søholm money box Ritt Bjerregaard 1983 Money Box of the Year

The Søholm money box with the motif of Ritt Bjerregaard from 1983 is a distinctive collector's figure that combines portrait bust and piggy bank in one and the same design. The figure is executed as a calm and concentrated bust portrait with slicked-back hair, closed lips and a firm, thoughtful expression, which gives it a strong personal presence. It is precisely this combination of portrait, period image and function that makes the model interesting for both collectors of money boxes and for those who appreciate Danish ceramics with character.

This piggy bank belongs to the series "Money Box of the Year", which was produced by Keramikfabriken Søholm for Bikuben. The series has achieved a special place among Danish collectibles because it links well-known personalities to a specific design tradition. The Ritt Bjerregaard motif therefore makes the figure ideal for collectors of political memorabilia, Søholm ceramics and Danish piggy banks with history.

The expression is simple and sculptural, and the light, matte surface emphasizes the figure's portrait character. As a money box, it stands out from more traditional piggy banks by having a clear story and a documented motif. It functions both as a collector's item, as a decorative ceramic figure and as a piece of Danish design history from the 1980s.

Older collector's figures like this have a special ability to add personality and history to the home. Here you get not just a piggy bank, but also an object that bears the mark of its time and of the Danish tradition of creating applied art that can endure and be preserved. This makes it an obvious gift idea for the collector, for the politically interested or for the person who appreciates vintage ceramics with soul.
