Deer in stoneware no. 20507 from Royal Copenhagen by Knud Kyhn

This deer figurine in stoneware from Royal Copenhagen combines calm, weight and a sense of nature in a design language for which Knud Kyhn is particularly well known. The figure is modelled as a resting deer with its head slightly turned and its antlers raised, which gives the expression both presence and dignity. It is a figure that attracts attention without seeming intrusive, and that fits beautifully into an interior with a focus on Danish design, ceramics and classic animal motifs.

The brownish and light shades in the glaze emphasize the figure's organic character and give the surface a lively play. In the pictures, fine variations in the glaze can be seen, highlighting the body's shapes, the upright line of the neck and the calm, unified expression. It is precisely the combination of lifelike modelling and artistic glaze that makes this type of stoneware figure sought after among collectors of Royal Copenhagen and works by Knud Kyhn. Model number 20507 is associated online with a resting deer in stoneware from Royal Copenhagen, and the dimensions are stated as approximately 24 x 28 cm.

As a decorative figure, it is ideal on a shelf, a sideboard or in a display cabinet, where the depth of the glaze and the figure's silhouette have room to come into their own. It can stand alone as a distinctive design object or be combined with other animal figures, stoneware or classic Danish ceramics. For many, older figures like this are also a conscious choice: good craftsmanship with history, created to last and to be appreciated for many years to come.
