Royal Copenhagen girl with teddy bear figurine no. 5195 - Hanne Varming

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 5195 depicts a little girl sitting on a chair with her teddy bear resting across her lap. The motif has a calm and present atmosphere, where the child's quiet posture and the close grip on the teddy bear give the figurine a warm and recognizable expression. The green dress, the white blouse and the soft shapes emphasize the poetic simplicity that makes porcelain child figurines so beloved in interior décor.

The figurine is designed by Hanne Varming, who is known for creating human motifs with life, feeling and naturalness. Here it is seen in the slightly forward-leaning posture, the crossed legs and the relaxed way the girl sits on the chair. The teddy bear is not merely a detail, but an important part of the story and makes the figurine ideal for collectors of child figurines, porcelain figurines and Danish design from Royal Copenhagen.

The porcelain figurine is executed in underglaze, which gives the muted colors and the glossy surface a harmonious and durable expression. The chair's wood-like decoration, the girl's hair bow and the small white flower on the dress add fine contrasts to the figurine without seeming overworked. It is precisely this balance between simplicity and character that makes the model so suitable as both a collector's figurine and a decorative feature in the home.

A figurine like this fits beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a collection with other Royal Copenhagen figurines. It can also be a meaningful gift for someone who appreciates classic porcelain, Danish design or motifs from the world of childhood. Older porcelain figurines like this carry both history and craftsmanship with them and are at the same time a sustainable choice when beautiful quality objects are allowed to live on and create joy in new surroundings.
