Bing & Grøndahl Pekingese figure no. 2101 porcelain figurine

This Pekingese figure no. 2101 from Bing & Grøndahl is a porcelain figurine with a distinctive and lively expression. The dog is modeled standing on its hind legs with its head raised, small outstretched front paws and a posture that gives the figure both pride and movement. It is a classic dog figurine in porcelain that immediately draws attention and is well suited to collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines, animal figurines and Danish porcelain.

The motif is finely worked with long, undulating fur lines that fall down from the head and further over the body in soft shapes. In the pictures, a light glaze can be seen with gray-toned areas in the fur, especially around the ears, back and tail, which gives depth and highlights the character of the figure. The dark eyes and the slightly upturned face give the Pekingese an alert, almost solemn expression that suits the breed's distinctive appearance.

Bing & Grøndahl is known for porcelain figurines with a great sense of both animals and movement, and this dog figurine is a good example of exactly that. The underglaze supports the smooth surfaces and the modeled details, so the figurine appears calm, harmonious and pleasant to look at from several angles. The full tail and the upright posture make it particularly suitable as an eye-catcher in a display cabinet, on a shelf or as part of a collection with other dog figurines and porcelain animals.

Older porcelain figurines like this one have a special ability to add personality and history to the home. They are created to last a long time and can still bring joy in a contemporary interior, where classic craftsmanship and reused quality objects are allowed to live on. The figurine is also an obvious gift idea for a dog lover, collector or for someone who is fond of Danish decorative art with soul.
