Royal Copenhagen bear cub stoneware figurine no. 20228 Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen bear cub stoneware figurine no. 20228 is a small, characterful figurine with a warm and lively expression. It depicts a playful bear cub lying down with its paws drawn up, and it is precisely this relaxed position that gives the figurine personality and presence. The form is round and compact, and from every angle it is experienced as a small sculpture with movement and life.

The brown sun glaze plays beautifully across the surface with deep, golden and darker shades that emphasize the figurine's organic form. The glaze gathers differently in recesses and along edges, and this gives the bear cub a varied and almost fur-like expression. It is precisely the type of stoneware figurine that many collectors associate with Knud Kyhn's assured ability to unite animal weight with soft, simple lines.

Knud Kyhn is among the most well-known names within Danish animal figurines, and his bears for Royal Copenhagen have for many years been sought after among collectors of classic Danish design and stoneware. This model has a fine size for both display cabinet, shelf and desk, where it can stand alone as a small art object or be included together with other animal figurines in porcelain and stoneware. It also works well as a gift for someone who is fond of Royal Copenhagen, Knud Kyhn or figurines with a calm Nordic expression.

Older figurines like this have a special charm because they are created with an eye for both form, craftsmanship and durability. A stoneware figurine with history adds warmth and personality to the home, and at the same time it is a beautiful way to choose quality design that can still create joy many years ahead.
