Blue Macaw figure no. 2235 or 503 Bing & Grøndahl Armand Petersen

Blue Macaw figure no. 2235 or 503 from Bing & Grøndahl is a striking bird figure in porcelain, where Armand Petersen has captured the parrot's calm weight and characteristic silhouette with great confidence. The powerful beak shape, the long tail and the upright seated posture give the figure a calm, almost sculptural expression, which makes it more than a classic porcelain figure.

The deep blue glaze stands beautifully against the light base and emphasizes the bird's exotic appearance. In the pictures, the macaw is seen sitting on a tall, white pedestal, which elevates the figure and gives it a fine verticality in the interior. This makes it suitable as an eye-catcher on a shelf, in a display cabinet or on a chest of drawers, where both the color and the form have room. The modeled claws, the light beak and the clear eye marking add life and personality to the figure.

Armand Petersen is known for his animal figures, and here his sense of anatomy and calm in the form is evident. The motif is naturalistic, but at the same time simplified enough that the figure also fits into a more modern home with an interest in Danish design and classic porcelain. For collectors of Bing & Grøndahl bird figures and porcelain animals, Blue Macaw is a characterful choice, and for the style-conscious buyer it is a figure that adds color, history and personality to the home.

Older porcelain figures like this have a special value because they are created to last and to be appreciated through generations. Choosing original porcelain with history is also a beautiful way to furnish more consciously, where good craftsmanship and durable materials are given new life in the home.
