Black Grouse Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 1020420 or 1744 41 cm

This large Bing & Grøndahl figurine of a black grouse is a striking piece of Danish porcelain art, where the bird's strength and movement are captured in a dramatic moment. The figurine shows the black grouse in display with the body bent forward, the tail raised and the wings drawn in along the side, giving the entire expression presence and energy. The deep blue shades, the light areas in the plumage and the naturalistic base emphasize the motif's vivid character and make the figurine an eye-catcher in the interior.

The black grouse figurine is modelled by Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen for Bing & Grøndahl and combines naturalism with a confident formal language. It is precisely this combination that has made Bing & Grøndahl's bird figurines sought-after among collectors of Danish porcelain. The great height of 41 cm gives the model a fine presence, whether it is placed alone on a shelf, on a chest of drawers or as part of a collection with other animal figurines and bird figurines in porcelain.

The glossy underglaze highlights the modelled feathers, the bird's characteristic tail and the fine color transitions in the surface. The motif contains both calm and tension, and therefore the figurine fits well into homes where one wants classic Danish design with a nature motif and distinct personality. For collectors, the model number is important, and this figurine is therefore easy to identify as no. 1020420 or 1744.

A porcelain figurine like this is also a gift idea for someone who is fond of Bing & Grøndahl, bird figurines, hunting motifs or older Danish design with substantial craftsmanship. It works beautifully as a solitary piece, but can also be combined with other porcelain figurines for a more personal and composite expression.
