Bing & Grøndahl Before bedtime figurine no. 2309 child with cuddly toy

Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 2309 with the title Before bedtime captures a calm and recognizable moment from childhood. The figurine depicts a child sitting on the floor with its cuddly toy raised up to its cheek, while a small basket stands in front of the child. The motif has a quiet intimacy that makes the porcelain figurine both charming and atmospheric in the interior.

The soft modeling and the calm colors emphasize the motif's warm expression. The child is dressed in a blue top with a white collar, while the hair is painted in light brown shades. The woven basket and the white cuddly toy give the figurine extra life and narrative. It is precisely this type of child figurine that Bing & Grøndahl is known for: small scenes from everyday life interpreted with calm, feeling, and confident form.

As a porcelain figurine in underglaze, the model has the smooth, clear surface and the fine play of colors that many collectors and design enthusiasts appreciate. The motif makes it ideal for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines, but also as a personal gift idea for someone who appreciates classic Danish porcelain and figurines with child motifs. It fits beautifully in a bookcase, a display cabinet, or on a shelf, where it can stand alone or be combined with other child figurines in porcelain.

Older porcelain figurines like this carry a special calm and history with them. They are created to last, and they add soul to the home in a way that mass-produced things rarely do. Choosing a figurine with history is also a lovely way to give good craftsmanship new life and let classic Danish design live on in a modern home.
