Bing & Grøndahl guardsman figure no. 2342 with defects

This Bing & Grøndahl guardsman figure no. 2342 depicts a Danish guardsman in full uniform with the rifle held close to the body. The figure is made of porcelain with underglaze and has the characteristic expression associated with classic Danish porcelain figures: glossy glaze, clear fields of color, and a motif with both calm, discipline, and a national character. The dark jacket, the light straps, the blue trousers, and the tall bearskin hat give the figure a striking and easily recognizable expression.

The motif makes this guardsman figure ideal for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figures, military figures, and Danish cultural history in porcelain. It also fits well into a collection with other human figures, occupational figures, or classic porcelain figures with narrative and character. The guardsman is depicted in an upright and stylized posture, which emphasizes both the ceremonial atmosphere and the precision that characterizes the motif.

The figure is designed by Svend Jespersen, and precisely the combination of a well-known designer, a clear motif, and Bing & Grøndahl's tradition-rich porcelain makes the model interesting for collectors. Older porcelain figures like this have a special ability to add personality and history to the home, and at the same time they are a beautiful example of Danish craftsmanship that can still be appreciated in modern interior design.

It is important to note that this figure is sold with defects, which also appear in the existing title and can be seen in the pictures with red arrows. Defects can be seen on the hat as well as at the small detail on the back of the figure next to the strap and the equipment. Please contact customer service if you would like further information about the condition before ordering.

A guardsman figure like this can look beautiful in a display cabinet, on a shelf together with other Bing & Grøndahl figures, or as a decorative gift for someone interested in Danish porcelain, guardsmen, or military-historical motifs.
