Royal Copenhagen waving polar bear figurine no. 111-191

This waving polar bear from Royal Copenhagen is a figurine with both charm and character. Knud Kyhn has given the polar bear a lively and almost narrative expression, where it sits slightly reclined with a raised paw, as if it is greeting, playing, or seeking contact. The motif makes the figurine warm and welcoming, while at the same time preserving the calm and weight that characterize many of Kyhn's animal figurines.

The figurine is made of porcelain and appears in light, soft shades that suit the polar bear motif particularly well. The smooth surface emphasizes the rounded shapes, while paws, snout, and face are modeled with fine details that bring the figurine to life. In the pictures, a discreet network of lines in the surface can also be seen, which helps give the figurine a special visual expression. The raised paw and the seated position make the model easily recognizable and give it a more playful character than many classic animal figurines.

Knud Kyhn is known for his strong and sensual depictions of animals, and bear figurines in particular are among the motifs many collectors associate with his work. Therefore, this Royal Copenhagen figurine is also ideal for those who appreciate Danish design history, classic porcelain figurines, and animal figurines with personality. It fits beautifully in a collection, in a display cabinet arrangement, or as a decorative detail in the home, where it adds both history and an eye-catching presence.

Older figurines like this one have a special ability to create personality in the interior. They are created with a kind of calm and durability that makes them worth preserving and enjoying for many years. Choosing a figurine with history is at the same time a fine way to give good craftsmanship new life and carry on a piece of Danish porcelain tradition.
