Royal Copenhagen penguins figurine no. 3118, 13 cm

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 3118 depicts two penguins closely gathered on an ice floe in a calm and atmospheric motif. They stand side by side with slightly forward-bent heads, and it is precisely this close placement that gives the figurine a warm and natural expression. As a bird figurine and animal figurine, it has a fine balance between simplicity and character, and the motif fits beautifully into both classic and modern collections of porcelain figurines.

The colors are kept in subdued gray, white, and light blue tones, which emphasize the Arctic atmosphere. The glossy surfaces and the soft modeling make the penguins' bodies appear calm and rounded, while the ice floe is shaped with undulating movements that bring the figurine to life. Seen from several angles, the motif is experienced differently, and this makes it suitable for placement in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or as a decorative element on a bookcase.

The figurine is made of porcelain with underglaze, a decoration technique that suits the motif's calm play of colors particularly well. Royal Copenhagen is known for porcelain with a strong sense of form and durable quality, and here the assured craftsmanship meets a motif that appeals to both collectors of bird figurines and those who are fond of animals in Danish porcelain.

According to the existing information, the model is from 1944, and this gives the figurine extra interest for collectors. Older porcelain figurines like this carry history and testify to a kind of quality that is made to last. Choosing vintage porcelain is also a way to give fine craftsmanship new life and bring more personality into the home with an object that has already stood the test of time.

This Royal Copenhagen penguin figurine is ideal as a gift for a collector, for a nature lover, or for someone who appreciates classic animal figurines in porcelain. It also looks beautiful together with other bird figurines or as a standalone motif, where its calm expression is allowed to stand on its own.
