Royal Copenhagen stoat stoneware figurine no. 21408 by Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen stoat stoneware figurine no. 21408 is a characterful animal figurine with the lively and lifelike expression that makes Knud Kyhn's works so sought-after among collectors of Danish stoneware. The figurine shows a stoat in motion on a modelled base, where the tense body, the alert gaze, and the long tail give the motif energy and presence.

The brown sung-glazed surface emphasizes the figurine's organic form and gives the stoneware depth, warmth, and a fine play in the glaze. Knud Kyhn was known for his sure sense of animals' anatomy and movement, and it is precisely here that his ability to unite artistic strength with an earthy, Nordic design language is felt. This makes the figurine ideal both as a Royal Copenhagen figurine for the collection and as a decorative feature in the home.

Older stoneware figurines like this have a special calm and weight that suit both classic and modern interiors. It fits beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as a standalone object on a table, where the glaze's glossy play and the details of the modelling truly come into their own. For many, Knud Kyhn's animal figurines in particular are among the most atmospheric within Danish design ceramics, and they are at the same time a fine choice for anyone who appreciates quality objects with history, durability, and personality.

This Royal Copenhagen stoneware figurine is also an obvious gift idea for the collector, the design lover, or the person who is fond of classic animal motifs in Danish ceramics. A figurine like this brings both storytelling, craftsmanship, and lasting value into the interior.
