Bing & Grondahl Danish Veteran Railway's plate no. 3 Motif: Litra E no. 978 Technique: Underglazed Year of Release: 1979 Diameter: 7" - 18 cm This type was originally developed to the Swedish Railways/S.R. (Svenska Järnvägen) by the company Nydquist & Holm AB Nohab in Trollhättan, Sweden in 1914. It was S.R.'s biggest locomotive, and was used on the long stretches, eg. Stockholm - Malmoe a.o. As eletricity was implemented, this type was in surplus, and all eleven machines were in 1937 sold to DSB. They were rebuilt in The Centralvaerksted in Copenhagen. They were introduced in traffic for transporting express-trains east as well as west of The Great Belt. During the war another 25 equivalent locomotives were produced by Frich's factories in Aarhus. Litra E 978 was build in 1943. The Tuborg Foundation bough it in 1977 and given to Fredericia, the last domicile of the E-machines
