Royal Copenhagen Polar Bear with Seal figure no. 1108 or 086

Royal Copenhagen figure no. 1108/086 depicts a dramatic polar bear with seal in a motif that immediately catches the eye. Knud Kyhn has created a powerful porcelain figure, where movement, weight and tension are gathered in one sculptural composition. The white polar bear bends forward over the seal, and the contrast between the bear's light glaze and the seal's grey-blue shades gives the figure a striking and lively expression.

It is a Royal Copenhagen animal figure with strong character and a clear narrative. Knud Kyhn is known for his nature-close depictions of animals, and here one truly senses his confident feeling for anatomy and movement. The figure is made of porcelain and described as executed in underglaze technique, which supports the soft transitions in the glaze and the deep, calm play of colours. The polar bear's muscular body, the broad paws and the open jaws stand in fine interplay with the seal's rounded shape and spotted decoration.

As a porcelain figure and collector's figure, the model has a weight in both motif and execution that makes it suitable as an eye-catcher in the interior. It fits beautifully in a bookcase, on a sideboard or in a display cabinet, where it can stand alone or be combined with other Royal Copenhagen figures and classic Danish design. For collectors of Knud Kyhn, bear figures and animal figures in porcelain, this is a model that stands out with its dramatic motif.

It is also a figure that appeals to the one who wants craftsmanship with history, quality and personality in the home. A striking gift idea for the collector or for the one who loves Danish porcelain, animal motifs and sculptural figures with presence.
