Bing & Grøndahl Lion Pair figurine no. 1823 Knud Kyhn

Bing & Grøndahl lion pair figurine no. 1823 is a striking porcelain figurine with strong character and calm weight. Knud Kyhn has created a motif in which the lion and the lioness lie close together in a natural and cohesive composition. The figurine combines power and presence in a way that makes it an obvious choice for collectors of Danish animal figurines and classic Scandinavian porcelain.

The expression is vivid and convincing. The lion's open mouth, pronounced mane, and outstretched body give the figurine tension and movement, while the lioness lies close against its side and adds balance and calm to the motif. The soft transitions in the porcelain and the glossy underglaze highlight the body's shapes, musculature, and the structure of the fur. The color tone appears muted and harmonious with a warm grey-brown expression that suits the motif and emphasizes the figurine's calm, animal strength.

Knud Kyhn is known for his depictions of animals, and here his sure sense of anatomy, volume, and personality is evident. It is precisely the type of figurine that adds depth and history to a room, whether it is placed in a display cabinet, on a sideboard, or as a decorative eye-catcher in the living room. For collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines, the lion pair is a motif with both gravitas and classic appeal, and for those interested in interior design, it is a porcelain figurine that can easily be combined with both older and more modern interiors.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add soul to the home. When good craftsmanship and strong design are allowed to live on, it becomes both a beautiful part of the interior and a sustainable choice. This lion figurine clearly bears the mark of the Danish tradition for animal figurines in porcelain and is at the same time a piece of design history that still feels present today.
