Bing & Grøndahl mother with 2 children figurine no. 2022 by Axel Locher

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 2022 depicts a quiet and intimate moment between a mother and her two children. The motif is finely balanced with the mother seated on a stool, the smallest child on her lap and the larger child close by her side. The figurine conveys care, security and everyday life in a way that makes it ideal for collectors of porcelain figurines with family motifs and for anyone who is fond of classic Danish figurine art.

With confident lines, Axel Locher has created a composition that appears calm and natural from every angle. The white dress with blue edges, the child's blue outfit and the soft shapes give the figurine a light and harmonious expression. The bowed head position and the mother's protective arm around the child emphasize the relationship between parent and child and give the figurine warmth without seeming sentimental.

The porcelain figurine is executed in underglaze, which fits beautifully with Bing & Grøndahl's classic tradition of figurines with calm colors and a smooth, glossy surface. It is a figurine that looks good both in a collection of B&G figurines and as a personal part of the decor on a shelf, in a display cabinet or on a desk. The motif of mother and children also makes it an obvious gift idea for a mother, for the family or as a meaningful gift in connection with birth, baptism or Mother's Day.

Older porcelain figurines like this contain a special charm because they are created to be preserved and appreciated through generations. When you choose a figurine with history, you get not just a decorative object, but also a piece of Danish design tradition that can still create intimacy and personality in a modern home.
