Bing & Grøndahl figurine Playing children no. 1568 or 403

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine with the motif Playing children no. 1568 or 403 captures a quiet and warm moment between two children. The figurine shows an older child in a blue dress, sitting on the floor with a smaller child close by. The two small figures are modeled with a fine intimacy, where the gazes and the movement of the body come together in a calm, loving motif that gives the porcelain figurine life and humanity.

Ingeborg Plockross-Irminger had a special eye for children and the close scenes of everyday life, and that is clearly felt here. The composition is soft and natural, with rounded forms and a harmonious color scheme in blue, white and light brown shades. This makes the figurine easy to place in the interior, whether it is to stand in a display cabinet, on a chest of drawers or as part of a collection of classic B&G figurines.

The porcelain figurine is made in underglaze, which gives the surface the characteristic depth and calm sheen that many collectors and connoisseurs associate with Bing & Grøndahl porcelain. The motif appeals both to those who are fond of child figurines, and to those seeking Danish porcelain art with a sensitive and timeless expression. The figurine is also beautiful as a gift idea for someone who appreciates classic design, childhood motifs and Danish figurative art.

Playing children is a figurine that tells something intimate and recognizable without grand effects. That is precisely why it still has a strong effect today. It unites artistic sensibility with fine craftsmanship and is a good example of why porcelain figurines from Bing & Grøndahl continue to have a natural place in modern homes as well as in dedicated collections.
