Bing & Grøndahl Belgian stallion no. 2234 horse figurine

Bing & Grøndahl Belgian stallion no. 2234 is a striking horse figurine with a calm, powerful expression. The figurine depicts a compact and muscular stallion with a broad chest, strong legs and the characteristic, solid body shape that evokes associations with the classic dray horse. The warm brownish glaze is combined with white details on the bridle, legs and the broad band around the body, which gives the figurine a distinct and recognizable expression.

Svend Jespersen has created a horse figurine in which weight and dignity go hand in hand with fine, simple lines. The mane is modeled with decorative braids, and the head is turned slightly to the side, which gives the figurine life and presence. It is precisely these kinds of details that make older animal figurines from Bing & Grøndahl sought-after among collectors and at the same time obvious as decorative features in the home.

As a vintage figurine, this Belgian stallion contains both history, craftsmanship and character. It fits beautifully into an interior with Danish design, antiques or more personal still lifes, where porcelain and figurines with soul are allowed to stand out. A horse figurine like this also works well as a gift idea for horse enthusiasts, collectors of Bing & Grøndahl or for the one who is fond of classic animal figurines with a strong formal language.

The current registration describes the figurine as a porcelain figurine with underglaze, designed by Svend Jespersen. Whether it is chosen for its collector's value, for the motif or for the warm, earthy color scheme, this is a figurine that adds personality and narrative to the room. It stands beautifully on its own, but can also be combined with other horse figurines, rural motifs or Danish decorative arts with historical character.
