Royal Copenhagen stoneware bear no. 20206 Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen stoneware bear no. 20206 is a characterful animal figure by Knud Kyhn, modelled as a sitting bear with a powerful body, pronounced paws and a lively facial expression. The figure has a calm, heavy form, but at the same time a distinct tension in the body, which gives it presence and personality. The open mouth and the slightly turned head add a more alert and natural expression to the subject.

The glaze plays beautifully across the surface in light and dark brown shades, which emphasize the figure's fur, shoulders and face. The soft transitions and the darker areas highlight the modelling and give the bear depth from all angles. It is precisely that combination of nature study and strong sense of form that makes Knud Kyhn's animal figures so sought-after among collectors of Royal Copenhagen and Danish stoneware.

This bear figure fits beautifully into an interior with a focus on Danish design, ceramics and figures with materiality and warmth. It works both as a standalone eye-catcher on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a collection with other animal figures from Royal Copenhagen. For those who appreciate classic Scandinavian design language and ceramic craftsmanship, it is a figure with both weight and history.

A figure like this is also an obvious gift idea for the collector or for someone who appreciates older design objects with personality. Stoneware figures by Knud Kyhn have a special ability to bring life to a room, because they unite artistic form, nature motif and solid craftsmanship in one and the same object.
