Royal Copenhagen Maria girl cuts her hair figurine no. 013

Maria is a charming porcelain figurine from Royal Copenhagen, where an everyday moment is captured with both warmth and personality. The figurine shows a little girl sitting on the floor with scissors in hand and cut-off braids, right in the moment where childish curiosity and defiant ingenuity meet. This makes the figurine a vivid and recognizable motif that brings smiles and memories to both collectors and those who appreciate classic child figurines in porcelain.

In Royal Copenhagen's Mini Children series, it is precisely the small stories from childhood that are at the center, and Maria is a fine example of the series' warm and narrative expression. Here the girl is seen in a pink dress with light stockings and short-cropped hair, while the cut-off braids are still held in her hands. The little scene is both humorous and human, and Sven Vestergaard's design language gives the figurine a natural and immediate expression that makes it easy to love.

The figurine is made as a porcelain figurine in underglaze and belongs among the sought-after models for collectors of Royal Copenhagen figurines and the Mini Children collection. It works beautifully on its own in a bookcase, a display cabinet or on a shelf, but it is also ideal as part of an existing collection. For collectors, Maria can be a figurine that complements the row of the 12 children in the series, while for others it stands strongly as a small story in itself.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add history, personality and warmth to the home. It is decorative art and collector's joy in one - created to be preserved and appreciated through generations. Maria is also an obvious gift idea for anyone who collects Royal Copenhagen, child figurines or Danish porcelain design with character and storytelling.
