Bing & Grøndahl Peter figurine no. 1696 standing boy with apples

Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 1696 depicts Peter, a standing boy with apples, created with the quiet, observant expression that makes classic child figures in porcelain so beloved. The figurine shows a boy in a white blouse and blue knee-length trousers, while he holds several apples close to his body and lets one hand rise to his mouth in a thoughtful, almost shy posture. It is a porcelain figurine with presence and a motif that exudes childhood, everyday life, and storytelling in a simple moment.

The design is by Ingeborg Plockross-Irminger, who is known for her human figures with soft forms and great sensitivity in body language and facial expression. Here it is precisely the calm posture and the fine balance between movement and stillness that give the figurine character. The smooth glaze and the underglaze-decorated execution also emphasize the classic Bing & Grøndahl expression that many collectors and porcelain lovers seek.

This B&G figurine fits beautifully into a collection of child figures, human figures, and Danish porcelain art, but it also works strongly on its own on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as a personal detail in the décor. The motif of the boy and the apples gives the figurine a warm and down-to-earth expression, making it ideal for those who appreciate figures with narrative and history. Older porcelain figurines like this are at the same time a sustainable choice, because they are created to last and to be appreciated through generations.

For collectors, figurine number 1696 is an important identification, and for many it is precisely the combination of Bing & Grøndahl, Ingeborg Plockross-Irminger, and the classic child motif that makes the figurine interesting. It is a fine example of Danish porcelain design, where craftsmanship, motif, and atmosphere come together as a whole.
