Bing & Grøndahl Peter standing boy with apples figure no. 1696

Peter, standing boy with apples, is a classic Bing & Grøndahl figure that captures a quiet and recognizable moment from childhood. The little boy stands with an upright, calm posture while holding several apples close to his body and letting one come up to his mouth. The motif has a fine everyday narrative, where innocence, reflection, and the child's natural relationship to fruit and play merge into a single expression.

The figure is made of porcelain with underglaze and has the soft, subdued play of colors that suits Bing & Grøndahl's child figures so well. The light shades in the upper body stand beautifully together with the gray-toned shorts, and the modeling highlights both the child's round face, the slightly forward-bent posture, and the small apples in his arms. It is precisely this combination of naturalism and calm that makes the figure decorative both on its own and together with other porcelain figures with children and everyday motifs.

The design is by Ingeborg Plockross Irminger, who is known for her vivid and sensitive child figures. Here, her sure eye for the child's body language and small movements is evident. Figure no. 1696 therefore has both artistic character and collector interest, not least for those seeking older Bing & Grøndahl figures, porcelain figures of children, or rare Danish figures with history.

As an older porcelain figure, Peter also contains the special charm that only design with a lived life can provide. It is a beautiful way to bring Danish porcelain history further into a contemporary home, where quality objects with soul are allowed to live on instead of being replaced by new production. The figure fits nicely in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or as a gift for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl, child figures, and Danish design.
