Bing & Grøndahl seated cat figure 1876 or 435 Ingeborg Plockross-Irminger

Seated cat from Bing & Grøndahl is a porcelain figurine with a calm and thoughtful expression, which makes it easy to love. The figurine is modelled by Ingeborg Plockross-Irminger, who is known for her lively animal figures, and here the cat is depicted in a classic seated position with bowed head, upright body and the tail elegantly placed along the side. This gives the figurine a quiet, present character that fits beautifully into both modern and more traditional homes.

The grey glaze with white chest front, muzzle and paws emphasises the cat's soft shapes and gives the porcelain figurine a fine play across the surface. The expression is simple, but full of personality, and for that very reason this Bing & Grøndahl cat figurine is an obvious choice for collectors of Danish porcelain, cat figurines and classic animal figurines. The underglaze-decorated surface also contributes to the well-known, calm expression that many associate with older figurines from Bing & Grøndahl.

A porcelain cat like this works well on its own on a shelf, in a bookcase or on a small table, where it can add warmth and character to the décor. It can also be combined with other porcelain figurines, especially animals and smaller art objects, if you want a personal arrangement with history and soul. For many, older porcelain figurines are something special precisely because they unite good craftsmanship, timeless design and the joy of giving beautiful quality objects new life.

It is also an obvious gift idea for the cat lover, for the collector of Bing & Grøndahl figurines or for the person who appreciates Danish design with a soft and natural design language. The figurine has a discreet charm that does not seem obtrusive, but which keeps catching the eye.
