Bing & Grøndahl sitting cat stoneware figurine no. 1876

This sitting cat from Bing & Grøndahl is a figurine with calm and presence. The simple, composed posture and the attentive attitude give the figurine a lively expression, which makes it an atmospheric feature in the interior. The cat motif has for many years held a special place among Danish animal figurines, and here it is interpreted with a confident sense of both form and personality.

The figurine is designed by Ingeborg Plockross-Irminger, who is known for her characterful animal figurines. Here the cat is depicted sitting with its tail placed around the body, dark glaze and warm brownish areas on the chest and paws. It is precisely the contrast between the dark shades and the lighter details that gives the figurine depth and makes it interesting to look at from several angles. The expression is calm and natural, which fits beautifully into both classic and more modern homes.

A Bing & Grøndahl cat figurine like this appeals to both collectors of Danish design and to those who simply appreciate decorative figurines with soul. It works well alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of an arrangement with other animal figurines, porcelain figurines or Nordic decorative art. For many, older figurines like this are also a joy to pass on and preserve, because they unite good craftsmanship, history and personal style in one and the same object.

At the same time, it is a figurine that is easy to place in the home. It can create warmth in a bookcase, add character to a chest of drawers or be a lovely gift idea for the cat lover, the collector or the person who appreciates older Danish arts and crafts. A sitting cat from Bing & Grøndahl has a timeless expression that still feels relevant and decorative.
