About the item
Bing & Grøndahl Christmas Plate 2010 with the title Ice Dance on the Lake captures a winter evening where frost, movement and togetherness melt together in an atmospheric motif. Jørgen Nielsen has created a Christmas plate in which the skating figures on the frozen lake become the center of the story, while the snow-covered house, the bare trees and the bright star above the landscape give the scene calm, depth and classic Nordic Christmas atmosphere.

The motif exudes winter joy and presence. In the foreground, two young skaters are seen moving across the ice, as if they are almost dancing across the lake, while other figures in the background emphasize that this is a gathering point for both play and shared experiences. The contrast between the dark winter sky, the glowing snow and the fine details in the tracks on the ice gives the plate a vivid expression. Ice Dance on the Lake tells not only of skating, but also of the quiet December evenings when nature and people meet in a simple, Danish winter tradition.

As a Bing & Grøndahl Christmas plate from 2010, this edition is part of a tradition-rich series that began in 1895 as the world's first Christmas plate series. Since then, a new plate has been released every year, and each edition constitutes its own completed release. After the final firing of the year, the mold was destroyed, so that the edition in question could not later be put into production again. This helps make each Christmas plate a special collector's item with its own place in the history of the series.

This Christmas plate is also suitable as more than pure decoration. From 1905 onwards, Bing & Grøndahl Christmas plates can also be used for food, and this edition can therefore easily be used as a smaller dessert plate or brought out at Christmas when the table should have a touch of classic blue porcelain. The rest of the year, it is also beautiful as a wall hanging, where the winter motif adds history, nostalgia and personality to the home.

Older and newer Christmas plates with history are also a fine way to choose quality design with lasting value. They bring both tradition and sustainable joy into the home, because good craftsmanship can be used, preserved and enjoyed for many years to come.
