About the item
Motif: Village Christmas 1974 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate depicts, as the title of the plate tells, Christmas in the village.The plate was designed by Henry Thelander. Christmas begins in the afternoon of December 24th, when the villagers arrive at the village church to hear the Christmas service. In the foreground of the plate we see the village pond with two mute swans, one of the birds which stay in Denmark during wintertime. The mute swan was elected national bird of Denmark in 1984.
