1953 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, designed by Kjeld Bonfils, is titled Dannebrog (vessel owned by the King or Queen of Denmark) in Greenland waters. Bing & Grondahl's Christmas plate from 1953 depicts the Danish Royal Yacht in Greenland. The year 1953 was a very important year for Greenland,as the Constitution which was passed in 1953 made Greenland part of the Danish Realm with the right to two seats in the Danish Parliament. Earlier Greenland was a colony. In 1953 Greenland had its second Royal visit ( the first one in 1921), when King Frederik VIIII and Queen Ingrid visited Greenland in the Royal yacht. When Dannebrog arrived at Godthaab ( now Nuuk) the entire population of the city came to greet the Royal couple, and to give them the traditional nine cheers. Later, in 1979, Greenland was given Home Rule, and in 1985 they had their own flag.
