Arabia Christmas plate 2001 Snow Crystal combines winter's clear simplicity with the strong, decorative expression that characterizes the late year models in the series. The motif is built around a large, white snow crystal in the center, which stands out sharply against the deep blue background and immediately brings to mind crisp winter evenings, freshly fallen snow, and the quiet atmosphere around Christmas.

Snow Crystal is a particularly fitting title for this year model, because the entire decoration revolves around the snowflake's symmetry and delicate pattern. The central form almost has the character of a paper snowflake or a stylized star ornament, while the golden border around the middle adds warmth and contrast to the cold blue shades. The outer edge with small white dots at the same time gives the plate a light, almost snowfall-like expression, and the year 2001 is beautifully marked at the bottom in gold.

The plate is made of stoneware (stoneware), which gives it a robust and heavy body. This makes it not only decorative, but also usable as a plate, for example for lunch or serving during the winter and Christmas season. The hand-painted gold decoration is clearly visible in the geometric border and in the year, where the gold creates a fine balance between the simple and the festive.

Arabia Finland is among the best-known names within Finnish design, and the series of Arabia Christmas plates began in 1978. This year model from 2001 shows how the series could also interpret Christmas through pattern, form, and atmosphere rather than through a classic figurative motif. Our example comes from an old surplus stock and is unused, which makes it a special opportunity to get an older Finnish Christmas plate with history, but without signs of use. Most plates from this surplus stock are still in their original Arabia boxes.
