The motif is linked to the hundredth anniversary of the first Bing & Grøndahl Christmas plate from 1895, which was the world's first Christmas plate series. On the 1995 plate, the gaze therefore returns to Copenhagen and the city's characteristic skyline, seen through a wintry, poetic filter.

On the front, the motif opens up like a view out over the city's towers and domes, where the blue decoration creates a calm and almost dreamlike Christmas Eve atmosphere.
