About the item
The Stock Exchange at Christmas time 1991 is an atmospheric Bing & Grøndahl Christmas plate, where one of Copenhagen's most well-known landmarks stands out in the classic blue and white porcelain. The motif brings together a winter evening, urban history, and Christmas peace in one image: the long historic building lies illuminated behind a bridge and a quiet stream, while bare trees and a clear star in the sky frame the scene with calm and solemnity.

On the plate, the Stock Exchange is seen in winter attire with the characteristic silhouette and the striking spire that makes the building so easily recognizable. In front of the building, the bridge, the small figures, and the dark water create a lovely sense of life in the midst of the quiet December atmosphere. It is precisely the contrast between the grand architecture and the small human figures that gives the motif presence and makes this year particularly charming. It is a Christmas plate that appeals both to collectors of Bing & Grøndahl and to everyone who loves Copenhagen, Danish cultural heritage, and classic Christmas motifs.

The 1991 edition was designed by Edvard Jensen and is part of the famous series, which began in 1895. Bing & Grøndahl's Christmas plates were the world's first Christmas plate series, and since 1895 a new plate has been released every year. Each edition was produced in a limited number, and after the last firing of the year, the mold was destroyed. Therefore, each release stands as a completed edition with its own history, its own motif, and its own place in the series.

This Christmas plate is also ideal for use in the home and not only for hanging up in December. From 1905 onward, Bing & Grøndahl Christmas plates are suitable for food and can, for example, be used as a beautiful cake plate or dessert plate for the rest of the year. At Christmas time, it also adds a special atmosphere to the table with its historic Copenhagen motif and the deep blue color that has made the series so beloved through generations.

As older porcelain with a history, this plate also holds a special sustainable value. It is quality-made Danish design created to last, and it brings joy to let a piece of cultural history gain new life in a modern home.
