Hackefors Christmas Plate / Christmas Dinner Plate "GOD JUL" 1969

Hackefors Christmas plate from 1969 is the first year in the Swedish series and a fine beginning for both collectors and those who are fond of classic porcelain with a Christmas motif. On the front stands the Danish Christmas greeting "GOD JUL", and the motif is kept in blue and white shades, which give the plate the calm, wintry expression for which Hackefors is known.

The motif shows a quiet snowy landscape with a small snow-covered building in the background, a tall fir tree in the foreground and a clear star that shines over the scene. There is a special calm in the image, where the soft snowdrifts and the dark winter sky create an atmosphere of Nordic Christmas, silence and anticipation. The simple composition makes the 1969 year easy to recognize and gives it a strong place in the series.

This Hackefors Christmas dinner plate is designed by Y. Norberg, Yngve Norberg, who is behind the early years in the series. Like the Hackefors Christmas plates from the period 1969-1999, the decoration is executed in genuine cobalt, and the year was issued in a limited number. This helps make it interesting as a Swedish Christmas plate and as vintage porcelain with history.

The plate is blue and white without gold decoration. Therefore it may be used for food, and with a diameter of 20 cm it works well as a lunch plate or cake plate at Christmas time. It is also dishwasher safe, so it can be used in everyday life and not only hung as decoration. This makes it a piece of Swedish porcelain that has both collector's value and practical use.

Our example comes from a purchased residual stock and is therefore unused, even though it is an older original from 1969. That is precisely part of the charm of older quality products like this Hackefors Christmas plate: they bring history and personality into the home and can still be used and enjoyed many years after they were manufactured.
