Hackefors Christmas Plate / Christmas Dinner Plate "Weihnachten" 1969

Hackefors Christmas plate from 1969 is an atmospheric Swedish Christmas plate with the German text "Weihnachten" on the front. The motif shows a quiet winter landscape, where a snow-covered fir tree stands in the foreground, while a small house with a smoking chimney lies safely behind the soft snowdrifts. Above the landscape, a bright star shines in the dark night sky and gathers the whole scene in a calm and solemn Christmas atmosphere.

The blue-white decoration gives the plate the classic expression that many collectors and Christmas enthusiasts are fond of. Here, it is precisely the simplicity of the motif that makes an impression: the quiet winter night, the light from the star and the little house in the snow tell a whole Christmas story without seeming overcrowded. On the plate stands the German text "Weihnachten", and the year 1969 is clearly stated on the front.

This year is designed by Y. Norberg, Yngve Norberg, who is behind Hackefors' early Christmas plates. Like other Hackefors Christmas plates from the period 1969-1999, the decoration is executed in genuine cobalt, and the year was issued in a limited number. This makes it interesting both as a Swedish Christmas plate, as a collector's plate and as a piece of porcelain history from Hackefors.

As this Hackefors Christmas plate is kept in blue and white without gold decoration, it may also be used for food. With a diameter of 20 cm, it works well as a cake plate or for smaller servings at Christmastime, and it is dishwasher safe. Therefore, it is not only a plate for the wall, but also a usable Christmas dinner plate that can create extra atmosphere on the table year after year.

Our example comes from a purchased residual stock and is therefore unused, even though it is an older original from 1969. It is a fine way to bring vintage porcelain and Swedish craftsmanship into the home - with both history, usability and the special charm that older Christmas porcelain has.
