The Annual collectibles 2020 from Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl continue the long tradition of Danish Christmas plates and related articles. Along with the Christmas plates come Christmas bells and drops which share the motif of the Christmas plate and there also follows a plaquette, Annual figurine and Annual Santa Claus and Christmas tree. Bing & Grondahl also continues the series of Mother's Day plates and Children's Day plates.
Now this year's Christmas plate and the connected articles have come from Royal Copenhagen. The Christmas plate 2020 shows an owl overlooking the Church of our Lady in Copenhagen. The Church of our Lady is the Cathedral of Copenhagen and the current building was built in classicist style and inaugurated in 1829. It became the Cathedral of Copenhagen in 1922. The owl sits in the Round Tower at the Trinity Church overlooking the cathedral. It's a cold day with snow on the roofs of Copenhagen.
The motif from this year's Christmas plate is shared by this year's Christmas bell and Christmas drop. In addition, the little owl repeats in the Annual figurine 2020. This year's motiv was designed by Allan Therkelsen.
In 2020, Royal Copenhagen also has a Christmas plaquette with motifs from Frederiksberg garden, where people are skating with Frederiksberg castle in the background. Frederiksberg Garden is located in connection with the Copenhagen Zoo at Frederiksberg outside inner Copenhagen. Frederiksberg Castle houses the Army Officers' School. The mini plate was designed by Sven Vestergaard.
From Bing & Grondahl the Christmas plate 2020 shows Rosenborg castle at winter with snow cover as on the Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate. Above Rosenborg you can see the Christmas star, which is a frequently recurring motif on Bing & Grondahl's Christmas plates. Rosenborg is a museum and has the Danish crown jewels and throne on display. Rosenborg is located in the King's Garden, which is the most visited park in Copenhagen.
Bing & Grondahl's Mother's Day plate 2020 has the motif of a puffin with young ones. The puffin has a very colorful beak is common in the North Atlantic with the largest population in Iceland. The mother's day plate was designed by Allan Therkelsen.
This year's children's day plate 2020 is decorated with two children dressed up as Vikings, with the boy having a sword and shield while the girl blows a lur. Behind them their Viking ship is waiting. The Children's day plate was designed by Sven Vestergaard.
Santa 2020 is out for a walk with his teddy bear, he is relaxed with open jacket in the good weather. But of course, he also has a bag of presents, if he well behaved children.
On the Christmas tree 2020 we see many beautiful red hearts and white garlands. The Christmas tree stands in a large pot with Santa's teddy bear next to it.
