1908 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, desined by Povl Jørgensen, bears the title St. Petri Church of Copenhagen. Bing & Grondahl's Christmas plate from 1908 depicts one of Copenhagen's most beautiful buildings, Sct. Petri Church in the centre of Copenhagen. This church is the oldes church in Copenhagen, as we find refe- rences to it from as early as 1304. The church does not have its original appear- ance,as it was twicen ravaged by fires, first in 1386 and then again in 1728. In 1586 the church was given to the German congregation in Denmark by Frederik II, and in 1994 it was again taken over by the Danish State, whereafter a massive renova- tion was commenced. The upper part of the church's tower is today considered to be the most beautiful Baroque tower in Copenhagen.
